Morrongiello_0Psychology professor Barbara Morrongiello is among 15 inaugural chairs named to the new Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) College of Reviewers.

More than 100 candidates from across Canada applied for the positions.

CIHR created the College to provide an internationally recognized resource for ensuring excellence in peer review for Canadian health research.

Morrongiello and the other chairs will help recruit, train, recognize and support experts as peer reviewers.

As holder of the Canada Research Chair in Child and Youth Injury Prevention, she studies health and well-being of families, especially childhood injuries. She’s conducted novel studies of children and risk using a custom-built virtual-reality system.

Her research is funded by CIHR, the Canada Research Chairs Program and the Canada Foundation of Innovation.
