A University of Guelph professor and team of students have developed a new online resource connecting food and healthy aging.

“The intent of this project was to create a resource that would showcase the links between agriculture, food and healthy aging while providing older adults with a tool they would enjoy using,” said Prof. Alison Duncan, Department of Human Health and Nutritional Sciences.

She worked on the project with HHNS students and Hilary Dunn, program manager at Agri-food for Healthy Aging.

The resource contains 52 recipes along with farm and nutrition facts, cooking tips and testimonials from older adults or farmers.

The team consulted older adults to develop the project.

The recipe resource was introduced at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair and was released this week on the Agri-food for Healthy Aging website.

The project was funded by the Agri-Food and Rural Link of the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs – U of G partnership.
