The University of Guelph is bringing back its Brock Scholarship for 2016, one of the largest and most prestigious doctoral awards in Canada.

Valued at $120,000, the scholarship covers all educational and living expenses for up to four years of studies.

Recipients are considered outstanding in their field of studies, their research work and their ability to serve as mentors and leaders to other students in doctoral programs.

“I am delighted that we are offering the award this year,” said Anthony Clarke, assistant vice-president (graduate studies and program quality assurance).

“It’s one of the top scholarships for graduate studies in the country, and will help us attract and retain exceptional scholars.”

The scholarship is funded from a $1-million endowment donated by Bill and Anne Brock. Bill Brock served as chair of the University of Guelph’s Board of Governors and Board of the Heritage Trust. He’s a graduate of Ontario Agricultural College and is an active U of G volunteer.

The application deadline is Feb. 15. More information is available online.
