Michael Ridley, formerly chief librarian and chief information officer at the University of Guelph, will receive the Ron MacDonald Distinguished Service Award from the Canadian Research Knowledge Network (CRKN) this fall.

Recognizing Ridley’s contributions to digital scholarship and the library profession, the award will be presented in Ottawa Oct. 21.

He teaches in U of G’s first-year seminars program and belongs to the Board of Governors.

Ridley was a founding director of the CRKN board from 2004 to 2011 and led a 2007 federal funding application for a digital content infrastructure project. He was project manager for the CRKN’s Integrated Digital Scholarly Ecosystem (IDSE) initiative.

The CKRN is a partnership of Canadian universities, dedicated to expanding digital content for the academic research enterprise in Canada.
