Prof. Julia Christensen Hughes will return to the United Nations General Assembly Hall in New York City to discuss how business can help ensure world peace and stability.

The dean of the College of Business and Economics has been invited to lead a discussion group during the UN’s private-sector forum Sept. 26 on implementing sustainable development goals.

The annual gathering is intended to give businesses a voice in intergovernmental debates.

The forum will include some 350 people from business, government, academia, foundations and the United Nations. It will showcase existing sustainable development projects and allow participants to discuss new ideas and collaborations.

The forum is organized by the UN Global Compact along with partners, including the Global Reporting Initiative and the World Business Council for Sustainable Development.

This past June, Christensen Hughes visited the UN General Assembly Hall to discuss corporate social responsibility and sustainability with officials from the United Nations and leading international companies. She talked about the need to reform business schools and the principles of responsible management education.
