A food drive for the U of G Student Food Bank is underway at the OVC Smith Lane Animal Hospital, located at 48 Smith Lane in the Hill’s Pet Nutrition Primary Healthcare Centre.
Practice manager Lisa Veit said the hospital team volunteered downtown for the Guelph Food Bank a few weeks ago. “During a recent team meeting, we discussed that it would be great to help out the Guelph Student Food Bank as well.”
The student food bank provides access to emergency food, anti-poverty resources and referrals to other food security, anti-poverty and financial assistance groups. This service is available to graduate and undergraduate students and is always confidential.
The OVC Smith Lane Animal Hospital has placed a bin in its front reception area and will be accepting non-perishable donations until Dec. 12. The Guelph Student Food Bank is in most urgent need of peanut butter, tuna, toiletries, beans, soup, apple sauce and treats for the holiday season.
