The University of Guelph and the University of Guelph-Humber will take part in the Ontario Universities’ Fair Sept. 19 to 21 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. The event is expected to attract more than 120,000 prospective students and their families.
The fair is one of the largest educational fairs in North America and is U of G’s largest off-campus recruitment event of the year.
It gives prospective students and their families the opportunity to visit displays, attend presentations, collect handbooks and have their questions answered by representatives from all 21 Ontario universities.
“While there is a great deal of information online about Ontario’s universities, it is incredibly helpful for potential students to speak to a university representative in person,” said Bonnie Patterson, president and CEO of the Council of Ontario Universities.
The opportunity to meet and chat with university representatives at the same event sets the Ontario fair apart from other educational fairs, she adds.
Staff from admission services and student service areas from both U of G and Guelph-Humber will be on hand during the fair to answer questions. Faculty, staff and students from both campuses will also share their expertise and knowledge with prospective students.
Fair visitors are primarily senior high school students and their families and teachers and guidance counsellors from the Greater Toronto Area and beyond.
U of G encourages students to sign up with their email addresses to receive admission updates, e-newsletters and event invitations.
The Ontario Universities’ Fair runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday in the South Building of the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.
