Environmental biology student Brooke MacKenzie is working in Canada’s forestry industry this summer after winning a contest hosted by the Forest Products Association of Canada. She won an internship position with Weyerhaueser Timberlands Forestry of Grand Prairie, Alta., through a social media contest: the Green Dream Internship.

This is the second time the Canada-wide contest has been held. MacKenzie is one of 14 students who received paid internships at various forest product companies across Canada. The industry hopes to recruit at least 60,000 new employees by the end of the decade.

MacKenzie heard about the opportunity from Prof. Andrew Gordon. During the four-month position, she will be blogging about the experience.
