Prof. Avis  Devine, Marketing and Consumer Studies, has received a prestigious international award for her research on residential and sustainable real estate.

Devine was named the 2014 recipient of the Aareal Award for Excellence in Real Estate Research (doctoral dissertation category).  The award is administered by the Real Estate Management Institute of the EBS Business School (Universität für Wirtschaft und Recht) and Aareal Bank AG.

Devine received the award during the 15th annual EBS-Real Estate Congress in Germany Feb. 28, where she also gave a research presentation on rental tenure and green residential construction policies and rental rates.

Devine, who joined U of G last fall, completed her MBA at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pa., while working full-time for Dollar Bank, where she was responsible for underwriting and valuation of commercial real estate.  In 2009, she left the bank to do her PhD in finance at the University of Cincinnati.
