A memorial service on July 5 will honour the memory of R.P. “Paul” Gilmor, who died June 20. He was the University’s first provost, serving from 1967 to 1987. The memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. at St. George’s Anglican Church, 99 Woolwich St.
He is remembered on campus through the annual R.P. Gilmor Student Life Award. The award recognizes both students and staff/faculty who contribute to the betterment of student life at the University.
As provost and director of student services, he helped to shape University programs that enrich the student experience on campus and contribute to Guelph’s long-standing reputation as a leader in student affairs.

A tree will be planted in his memory in the Arboretum’s Wall-Custance Memorial Forest. The annual dedication service will take place in the Arboretum on Sunday, Sept. 15, at 2:30 pm.
