The University of Guelph United Way committee seeks a student co-chair for the University’s 2013 and 2014 United Way campaigns.

The successful candidate will join the U of G United Way committee and work in partnership with the outgoing student co-chair to plan and oversee the student portion of the annual fundraising drive.

This is a demanding but rewarding volunteer position. More than 200 staff, faculty and student volunteers make the annual campus campaign possible, leading fundraising efforts that benefit the United Way Guelph Wellington Dufferin. In fall 2012, the University community donated more than $600,000 to the local charity; the student campaign raised almost $10,000 of that total.

Each year, a new student co-chair will be recruited to partner with the experienced student co-chair, ensuring a successful transition of student leadership for the University’s United Way campaign and appropriate mentorship for the incoming student volunteer.

Interested graduate and undergraduate students are invited to apply for the co-chair position. Applicants are asked to submit a resume, along with a creative piece that highlights why they want to support United Way Guelph Wellington Dufferin. The creative piece could be a short video clip, poster, essay, an idea for the upcoming United Way campaign, or other work of the applicant’s choice. The University’s current United Way committee will review applications, conduct interviews and select the new student co-chair.

The deadline for applications is April 2; request additional information and/or submit applications to Jolène Labbé at unitedway@uoguelph.ca.
