The Human Rights and Equity Office (HREO) is recruiting volunteers who are interested in training to assist in the resolution of human rights concerns, disputes and complaints under the University’s human rights policy, Human Rights at the University of Guelph.

HREO seeks volunteer fact-finders to serve as part of a team investigating formal human rights complaints. A selection committee consisting of the provost and vice-president (academic), vice-president (finance and administration), associate vice-president (student affairs) and the HREO director, or designates, will choose the successful applicants.

HREO also requires volunteers to act as human rights resource persons who will provide information and support for individuals involved in the resolution of human rights issues. A sub-committee of the University’s Human Rights Advisory Group will select successful candidates for this position.

Both positions are open to faculty, staff and students. Upon successful completion of a series of training sessions s candidates will commence position responsiblities in fall 2013. HREO volunteers work during business hours on an as-needed basis, with scheduling flexibility.
