Design with Microclimate by landscape architecture professor Robert Brown is one of two recent books about creating inviting outdoor spaces that were selected as picks of the week by Island Press senior editor Heather Boyer.

Published in 2010, the book is one of the editor’s favourites “because it shows the power of the natural world and the critical need to understand it to successfully design and plan spaces for human use.” Design with Microclimate is described as a vital resource for students and practitioners in landscape architecture, architecture, planning, and urban design.
