U of G’s former vice-president (research) Alan Wildeman, now president of the University of Windsor, is the featured performer at Guelph’s Jan. 9 MASH Mondays event.
MASH Mondays was started by Doug Larson, a U of G biology professor emeritus. The interactive interview series brings music, art, science and history (MASH) together. Wildeman’s interview begins at 8:30 p.m. at Manhattans Music Club; reservations are recommended, 519-767-2440.
Influenced by the popular television shows Inside the Actor’s Studio, Spectacle and Q, Larson says MASH Mondays allow guests to share their creative background with the audience through spoken word, visual display and song.
Wildeman, who grew up on a family farm in Saskatchewan, says he has followed his family’s tradition of singing songs around the kitchen table. The songs he has written have been described as “prairie surrealism.” His music has been recorded on several compilation CD’s.
