Responsibility for a wildlife education program founded more than 20 years ago by the late Ontario Veterinary College (OVC) professor Bruce Hunter has been transferred to the Ontario Agricultural College (OAC). Wild Ontario is the “offspring” of the Wild Bird Clinic Education Program that was established by Hunter in 1987.

The move to OAC was made to maintain the program and better co-ordinate its activities with other wildlife and nature programs offered by the University. The change is effective immediately. The program will be housed in the Department of Animal and Poultry Science.

“We will do our best to continue the program of outreach education that OVC began,” says OAC dean Rob Gordon.

Wild Ontario is a non-profit volunteer organization dedicated to helping people understand and appreciate nature and their impact on it. It offers a variety of youth programs for community events and organizations such as Scouts and Guides and naturalist groups.
