Prof. Jack Trevors, School of Environmental Sciences, was recently named a fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry. Fellowship is awarded to people who have made outstanding contributions to the advancement or application of chemical science or who have demonstrated excellence in the chemical science profession.

Trevors is a professor of microbiology and environmental biology. His research includes the origin of genetic instructions, gene transfer in bacteria, soil bioremediation, gene expression in soil, pathogens in the environment, cytoplasmic membrane polarization in bacteria and applications of molecular and biophysical methods in soil bacteriology.

A U of G professor since 1982, he has earned numerous accolades for his research, and is the author of more than 300 journal articles and the editor of numerous scientific publications.
