Population medicine professor David Waltner-Toews participated in the 2010 Speakers of Renown series, which celebrated the 40th anniversary of the International Development Research Centre (IDRC). He spoke at IDRC in Ottawa Nov. 24 on “Ecohealth in a Complex World: Policy’s Holy Grail?”

Founding president of Veterinarians Without Borders and the Network for Ecosustainability and Health, Waltner-Toews studies emerging diseases, ecohealth and epidemiology, and has taught and studied in Africa, Latin America and Asia. He recently received the inaugural award for outstanding contributions to the field of ecohealth from the International Association for Ecology and Health.
