Prof. David Kribs assumed a three-year appointment as chair of the Department of Mathematics and Statistics on Sept. 1, 2010. He earned an undergraduate degree in mathematics from the University of Western Ontario in 1994 and graduate degrees from the University of Waterloo in 1996 and 2000.

Before joining U of G in 2003, Kribs held visiting positions at the University of Iowa, Purdue University and Lancaster University in England. His teaching experience spans all levels of undergraduate and graduate instruction, including a number of international summer schools. His current research in quantum information aims to develop a mathematical foundation for emerging disciplines such as quantum computing.

Since coming to Guelph, Kribs has received an Ontario Early Researcher Award, a Discovery Accelerator Supplement from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council, and a Presidential Distinguished Professor Award.
