The University of Guelph community helped raise more than $14,000 to provide services, equipment and opportunities for people with spinal cord injuries during the seventh annual Wheels in Motion June 20.

The annual national fundraiser was held on campus attracting more than 100 participants and volunteers.

About half of the “Quality of Life” funding raised during the national event sponsored by the Rick Hansen Foundation is now available to assist people with spinal cord injuries who live or work in the Guelph area.

As part of Wheels in Motion, people obtain pledges individually or as part of a team and then wheel, bike, skate, run or walk a 2.5-kilometre course. There was also a team relay challenge, where people complete daily tasks from a wheelchair.
