DESCRIPTION:The Ontario Veterinary College is thrilled to announce that the 2022 Schofield Lecture will be given by Dr. Baljit Singh and take place Friday\, November 25 at 3:30 p.m in person in ELCA 1720. Reception to follow from 4:35-6 p.m.\, Lifetime Learning Centre Cafeteria (1707 B & C). There is also an option to listen to the lecture via Microsoft Teams. This is a free event and all are welcome. \nAbout the Lecture: The generally held belief is that careful planning leads us to desired outcomes. It is also known that serendipity or accidents influence life of the individuals and the communities. While taking some examples of serendipity and unintended collisions including those at the Ontario Veterinary College that shaped his life\, relationships and professional career\, Dr. Singh would like to engage with the U of G community on this and other topics. \nDr. Baljit Singh is a highly accomplished researcher\, educator and administrator in the field of veterinary medicine\, with specific expertise in lung biology and anatomy. His research has focused on cell and molecular biology of lung inflammation. Dr. Singh has received the 3M National Teaching Fellowship\, the Alan Blizzard National Award for Collaboration in University Teaching and Learning\, the University of Saskatchewan Master Teacher Award\, the University of Saskatchewan’s Provost’s Prize for Innovative Practice of Teaching and Learning\, and the Carl J. Norden Distinguished Teacher Award. He has also received the Outstanding Veterinary Anatomist Award from the American Association of Veterinary Anatomists\, as well as the Pfizer Award for Research Excellence.
