Dr. Maria Corradini

Dr. Maria Corradini, the Arrell Chair in Food Quality, spoke to The Canadian Press about food waste and the influence of food rescue apps. The article appeared in several publications across Canada, including CTVNews.ca.

In the article, Corradini cautioned food rescue apps are only a part of the solution to food waste and said better inventory planning and artificial intelligence should be used in efforts to reduce food waste.

She also lauded the efforts of the apps and their users but said users should be aware of the potential risks associated with the apps.

Corradini is a professor in the Department of Food Science. Using novel techniques, predictive tools and computational methods, she studies foods and their biophysical behaviour and stability.
