Thriving in Action will help you move from languishing to flourishing throughout your time in university. In each workshop\, you will learn and practice both wellness and learning strategies that will help you be the student you want to be. Join us for one or all four workshops this spring and learn how to thrive. Workshops are offered online and will be delivered via Zoom. This program is offered by the Library and Student Wellness. \nIf you attend all four workshops\, you can obtain a letter of recognition for your participation. \nWorkshop 3: Mindfulness and the Present Moment \nExplore here how to be in and make the most of the present moment. Learn how to plan and become more attentive\, all from a mindful approach. Presentness can help to see things more clearly\, gain perspective\, feel grounded and excel. The art of attentiveness can help you to pay attention to yourself and what is around you and can be directly transferred to becoming a thriving student. Reid CBE BVMS PhD DVM(Hons) DipECVPH FRSB FRSE FRCVS \nBIO:\nStuart Reid is President and Principal of the Royal Veterinary College (RVC)\, an autonomous member institution of the University of London federation. \nAn alumnus of the University of Glasgow\, he became dean at his alma mater in 2005 before moving to the RVC in 2011. The oldest and largest veterinary school in the English-speaking world\, the RVC is ranked as the top institution globally in the QS World University subject rankings. \nReid is a recognized by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons as a specialist in veterinary epidemiology and in veterinary public health by the European Board of Veterinary Specialists\, and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Biology and the Royal Society of Edinburgh\, Scotland’s National Academy. His research interests are focused on zoonotic disease and antimicrobial resistance. He has over 160 scientific publications\, including in PNAS and Science\, and he has secured over £16M in competitive funding during his career. \nReid was president of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) in the UK 2014-15. He has also been president of the European College of Veterinary Public Health and honorary secretary of the Association of American Veterinary Medical Colleges. \nHe was appointed CBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours in 2018 for services to the veterinary profession and higher education\, and in 2019 he was elected as a Fellow of the RCVS and an international member of the National Academy of Medicine in the USA.
