DESCRIPTION:On October 12\, Deep Dish Dialogues will be exploring ways to learn about Indigenous food and culture through food. Ted Norris from Further Education Society of Alberta will be sharing details about the Cooks with Stones program. In addition\, Red River Métis Chef Dean Herkert from Bistro on Notre Dame will be sharing how he educates people about Indigenous food at his restaurant. Throughout the event\, Chef Dean will be preparing a wildflower risotto with smoked duck breast. If you are attending in-person\, you’ll receive samples of Chef Dean’s dish! \nRegister now to attend this event in-person at the Anita Stewart Memorial Food Lab (MINS 214) or online on Thursday\, October 12 from 12 to 1:30 p.m.

DESCRIPTION:The University of Guelph’s Global Thought Leader in Residence Vikas Swarup will deliver a public lecture next week titled “Global Citizens in Uncertain Times.” \nAll are welcome to attend. \nRSVP: provost@uoguelph.ca \nSwarup will discuss the imperative of global citizenship at a time when the world is more integrated but also more fragmented than ever before. \nHis talk will emphasize the need for citizens with a global outlook as well as examine the necessary attributes of a global citizen. \n“We need citizens with a global outlook because the vast majority of challenges facing the world can only be solved by countries working together\,” says Swarup. \nAbout Vikas Swarup\nA well-regarded author\, and former diplomat who served as high commissioner of India to Canada\, Swarup was recently welcomed to U of G as the University’s inaugural Global Thought Leader in Residence. \nThe new position was launched jointly with the Canada India Foundation to elevate Canada-India relations through intellectual engagement. \nSwarup’s residency extends to Oct. 23\, during which time he will be engaged in guest lectures\, public talks and interactions with faculty\, students and staff.
