SUMMARY:Arboretum Workshop: Wonderful Spring Wildflowers Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Mask\, proof of vaccination and screening required to attend this event. \nWe’ll be exploring The Arboretum grounds\, including the nature reserve\, in search of beautiful spring ephemerals. The different habitats found in The Arboretum should allow us to find a variety of spring ephemerals. This in-person session should provide participants with the opportunity to practice identification skills learned in the virtual session. \nFee: $60 (plus HST) per person\, per session if booked prior to the early bird deadline of April 28. After the early bird date the fee is $70 plus HST per person. \nPlease note that the virtual program on April 29 is included in this In-Person Wonderful Spring Wildflower Workshop. If you sign up for the In-Person Wonderful Spring Wildflower Workshop you do not need to sign up for the virtual program as you will automatically receive the link for the virtual portion in the In-Person confirmation.

See the full calendar of events brought to you by Wellness@Work. \nWho is Patrick Hunter?\nPatrick Hunter is a 2Spirit Ojibway Woodland artist from the community of Red Lake\, in north-western Ontario. Patrick paints what he sees through a spiritual lens which is inspired by his homeland and growing up seeing the original works of woodland painter Norval Morrisseau in various buildings around his home town. After working as a graphic designer\, Patrick launched Patrick Hunter Art & Design\, specializing in artwork and designs from his cultural background with the intent of making artwork that creates a broader awareness of Indigenous iconography. His works can be viewed in the buildings around Toronto such as at CBC Headquarters\, Toronto City Hall\, TD and BMO banks\, The Prince’s Trust Canada\, Rogers Headquarters and the Ontario Trillium Foundation. Or perhaps you may be familiar with his work such Marc-Andre Fleury’s NHL goalie helmet and 2022 Winter Olympic curling team uniforms! \nParticipants will learn: \n\nThe fundamentals of painting/techniques in a fun & positive environment.\nThe importance of mental health and healing through the arts.\nThe spiritual significance/history of the Woodland Art form in Indigenous communities.\nBasic cultural competency understanding & artistic confidence.\n\nSupplies:\nWellness@Work will purchase supplies to reduce barriers to participation. Registrants will be emailed ahead of the session date with pickup time options and instructions for preparing for the paint class. Pickup will be on U of G main campus\, in the University Centre. \nRegister online.
