SUMMARY:Groundbreaking for MacKinnon Building Renovations
DESCRIPTION:Construction on the MacKinnon Building aimed at creating a new ImprovLab and updating the existing theatre\, student spaces and main entrance will launch with an official groundbreaking ceremony. \nThe University community\, architects\, funders and supporters are invited to attend the event to be held in the MacKinnon quadrangle. \nRenovations will cover 45\,000 sq. ft of space that currently houses performing arts at U of G. Construction will begin in fall 2019 to create the foundations and enclosure of the new building. The project is expected to be completed in spring 2021.

DESCRIPTION:Born with the brain of a robot and the heart of a bull\, Dr. Megabyte stretches technology to its limits in the pursuit of sound as sensation\, emotion\, and introspection. In his performances\, you will hear found sounds mixed with synthesized sounds and noise\, then transformed through time and frequency manipulation. \nMatthew James Borland (a.k.a. Dr. Megabyte) is also giving open lectures and demonstrations in ALEX 071 on October 22-24 from 10 a.m. to 11:20 am. \nAll are welcome. \nFree admission.
