ArcGIS is available on all library computers\, also by download to the University community. Although similar in some ways to online mapping sites\, ArcGIS has greater analytical capabilities and allows you more input and control over your map. We’ll learn some GIS fundamentals and how to get started using ArcGIS.\nIn this workshop\, we will learn how to navigate ArcMap\, kinds of GIS data\, how to add data to a map\, basic symbology and labeling\, how to filter data\, and how to calculate new data and map it. \nRegister on the library’s website.

Alexander – model\, author\, designer and former judge on America’s Next Top Model – deliver a keynote address as the cornerstone event of Black History Month. \nExploring how the intersections of blackness\, gender\, and femininity uniquely affect the lives of black queer folks\, the keynote will focus on experiences with personal identities\, navigating the fashion industry as a Black queer person\, and lessons taken in advocacy. In addition\, Miss J will be looking at diversity and representation\, examining gender expectations and finding the tools to create spaces that contribute to disrupting the status quo\, increase diversity and representation. The overarching theme centers on the importance of representation in media and its effect on underrepresented populations. \nTickets: \n\n$5 for U of G and WLU students. U of G\, McMaster and Laurier students will be required to show a valid student card for entry with a student ticket.\n$15 for staff\, faculty and community members and students from other institutions\n\nDoors open at 6 p.m. Event starts at 7 p.m. This venue is fully accessible. We’re all facing these challenges together and looking for solutions.
