Open to U of G women faculty\, staff and students\, this session provides an opportunity to engage in dialogue\, share experiences\, and consider the opportunities of leadership in academia. \nTremaine Visiting Speaker Series for Women in Science Featuring Dr. Charmaine Dean: Dr. Charmaine Dean (Ph.D.\, University of Waterloo) is Vice-President\, Research and International at the University of Waterloo. In this role\, she provides strategic leadership in the areas of research and innovation\, commercialization\, and internationalization. She is also responsible for building strategic alliances and partnerships with other academic institutions\, governments\, businesses\, and industries at the regional\, national\, federal\, and international levels. \nThis event is part of the Tremaine Visiting Speaker for Women in Science\, created by a generous donation from the Tremaine family. It focuses on re-localizing seed systems\, supporting community gardens\, and introducing climate-adapted Indigenous seed varieties to enhance nutrition\, health\, and resilience in the face of climate change and colonial legacies. Through trust-building\, community-led research\, and participatory action\, the project emphasizes respectful partnerships and sustainable\, culturally grounded approaches to food systems development.

DESCRIPTION:The University of Guelph invites educators from all three campuses to join a monthly community focused on artificial intelligence in teaching and learning. This group creates space for honest conversations about AI’s impact on education\, welcoming perspectives from enthusiasts to skeptics. \nOpen to faculty\, sessional instructors\, teaching assistants\, and staff\, the community addresses real classroom challenges through peer learning and practical problem-solving. Participants can share materials\, discuss assignment redesign\, explore academic integrity questions\, and learn what students are doing with AI tools. No prior AI experience or commitment to using these technologies is required. \nMeetings begin with foundation-setting in September\, then shift to monthly problem-solving sessions based on group needs. Topics may include specific classroom challenges\, assignment and policy review\, and guest perspectives\, always emphasizing collaborative learning among colleagues facing similar questions.
