DESCRIPTION:Attend the Take Your Break event and Complete the Wellness@Work Pulse Survey! \nThursday\, June 15\, 9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. in the UC Courtyard \nNext week\, take your break\, grab a refreshment\, compliments of Wellness@Work\, and complete the pulse survey if you haven’t already. Laptops and paper copies of the survey will be available. Share your thoughts as you sip on a beverage! The Take Your Break event is not just about recognizing our staff and faculty for all the amazing things they do by providing them with free drinks and snacks. It is also about making the space to engage in healthy work habits\, step away from our workspaces to take a walk\, and do it with our colleagues to support our mental and social well-being. \n\nThe Wellness@Work Pulse Survey for 2023 is now open to all faculty and staff. Please share with us how you are feeling. The survey should only take a few minutes to complete as there are only five short questions. All responses are anonymous.\nThe Wellness@Work initiative supports whole-person well-being for faculty and staff at the University of Guelph. This survey helps us understand your perspectives on mental health\, workplace safety\, and work-life balance so that we can identify employee experience trends\nThe input you provide through this survey is incredibly valuable and will help shape programming\, policies\, strategic planning and procedures developed by Wellness@Work to support your wellbeing. DESCRIPTION:Join Vanessa Ling Yu in the next Deep Dish Dialogues as she prepares a meal that is diverse and delicious while discussing food work in kitchens. Vanessa will be joined by Dr. Mark Holmes from the School of Hospitality\, Food and Tourism Management to dive into discussions around food business entrepreneurship and steps to improve food justice from the kitchen. Vanessa will also share how she is actively working to build equitable systems through the social enterprise caterToronto. Each episode features new guests and a recipe connected to the topic. In the session\, the audience has the chance to learn how to make new dishes while learning more about food\, sustainability and our communities. This series is brought to you by the University of Guelph’s Arrell Food Institute and the School of Hospitality\, Food and Tourism Management at the Gordon S. Lang School of Business and Economics. \nAbout Chef Vanessa Ling Yu\nVanessa Ling Yu is the founding director of caterToronto\, a Toronto neighbourhoods-based network for the continuum of food workers with a mission to cultivate better social and economic outcomes by connecting people and food in ways that are diverse\, dignified\, and delicious for all! CaterToronto provides racialized and/or newcomer women seeking to advance their careers in the foodservice industry through access to commercial kitchens\, trainings and supports as well as feasible market opportunities. Vanessa’s knowledge and experience of working with communities includes participatory action research\, health promotion\, economic development\, capacity building\, and food sector sustainability. She has a long-standing commitment to pursuing food justice with a specific focus on developing inclusive local food economies and community health.
