SUMMARY:Data Skills Workshops: Data Visualization - GIS
DESCRIPTION:ArcGIS is a Geographic Information System (GIS) – a software program for working with maps and geographic data. A GIS allows you to work with any data that you know a location for (e.g.\, addresses\, latitude and longitude\, census locations\, name of a place\, etc.). ArcGIS is available on all the Library computers\, also by download to the University community. Although similar in some ways to online mapping sites\, ArcGIS has greater analytical capabilities and allows you more input and control over your map. We’ll learn some GIS fundamentals and how to get started using ArcGIS. \nIn this workshop we will learn how to navigate ArcMap\, kinds of GIS data\, how to add data to a map\, basic symbology and labeling\, how to filter data\, and how to calculate new data and map it. \nMcLaughlin Library\, Room 032

SUMMARY:CCSAW Seminar: Cat Welfare During Handling and Restraint
DESCRIPTION:Carly Moody is a recent PhD (Epidemiology) graduate from the Department of Population Medicine at the Ontario Veterinary College. Her PhD research focused on developing and validating methodologies to assess negative cat responses during restraint\, then using these validated methodologies to examine cat responses to two contentious restraint methods: scruffing and clips. In February 2019 Carly will start a postdoctoral position with Charles River Laboratories in Montreal\, Quebec. \nOVC Pathobiology AHL\, Room 1800
