SUMMARY:Holocaust Education Week: Cattle Car Exhibit
DESCRIPTION:For the third consecutive year\, Guelph Hillel will showcase a replica of a German cattle car in Branion Plaza\, similar to the ones used by the Nazis to transport Jews and others to concentration camps during World War II. The cattle car houses an exhibit giving students\, faculty and other members of the campus and Guelph community the opportunity to learn about the atrocities of the Holocaust in a powerful way. \nHolocaust Education Week runs Nov. 6 – 10

DESCRIPTION:Set for the second Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Guelph Civic Museum\, this lecture series will feature topics about nation building.  Presented in partnership between Guelph Museums and the University of Guelph. \nNov. 8\, Research Matters presents “Barcoding Canada: What does it mean for the future of biodiversity in Canada?” Canada’s Global DNA detectives panel discussion with U of G’s Bob Hanner and Amanda Nauum. \nConserving biodiversity in Canada for the future depends on understanding the past and the strategic role DNA barcoding plays in helping to protect millions of species that share our planet. \nModerated by Owen Roberts\, Director of Research Communications\, University of Guelph \nPanel Speakers: \nBob Hanner is an associate professor at the Biodiversity Institute of Ontario (BIO) and Centre for Biodiversity Genomics. \nAmanda Nauum works for TRU-ID\, a new startup spun out of BIO. She also has her own educational consulting business and continues to work one day a week as a post-doc in the BIO lab. \nGuelph Civic Museum\, 52 Norfolk Street\, Guelph.
