U of G continues to plan for a return to conventional course delivery and preparing to offer in-person instruction for most courses this winter. You can expect to see more activity on campus and in our facilities as we continue our safe return while following public health and government advice and directives.

Remote Start for Winter 2022 Courses

U of G will phase in some in-person courses or course components on Jan. 24 in courses where instructors have determined it necessary to ensure learning objectives for the semester. For many Winter 2022 courses, in-person delivery begins Jan. 31. Check CourseLink and your uoguelph.ca inbox for more information from instructors about in-person delivery. Read the latest update on in-person course delivery at U of G.

Only students who are fully vaccinated or who have received an approved exemption will be eligible to register for in-person courses for the winter 2022 semester. Students who register for in-person courses but who have not provided proof of full vaccination or who do not have an approved exemption will be removed from courses with mandatory in-person components.

Returning to Work on Campus

For employees whose roles directly support students, the expected physical return to our campuses will be by Jan 31. The return of employees whose jobs are not student-facing will follow implementation of operational plans gradually during the weeks that follow.

Some managers and supervisors may arrange cohorts for their units, with individuals alternating days working on-site and days working remotely. U of G also has a Flexible Work Arrangement policy for non-academic staff, which allows for partial remote work arrangements at the employee’s request. With a diversity of academic and administrative units across the University, patterns of work may look different across areas.

Speak with your manager or supervisor if you have any questions about your return to on-site work. And check out the Ready to Return checklist before your first day back to help with a smooth transition!

Vaccination Policy

U of G’s COVID-19 Vaccination Policy is in effect until at least September 2022. Full vaccination is required for those coming to our campuses and facilities in the winter semester. All those over the age of 12 must be fully vaccinated to access U of G campuses and University-managed facilities.
