PhD Student to Study Peruvian Women Farmers

Silvia Sarapura, a PhD student in the School of Environmental Design and Rural Development, has received a 2009-10 Canada-Latin America and the Caribbean Research Exchange Grant to study the livelihoods of indigenous women growing native potato crops in Peru. She will work with Graham Thiele from the International Potato Centre in the South American country.
