Prof. Michael von Massow, Food, Agricultural and Resource Economics, was interviewed by Global News April 12 and by BNN April 6 about the rising costs of lettuce and other produce caused by shortages linked to irregular weather in California. He said restaurants will likely absorb the price increase or cut back on offering lettuce instead of raising prices for customers. Von Massow, who studies food economics, grocery store prices and food value chains, said prices should go down in a few weeks.
